Follow-Up on Aphasia

by Alicia Sparks, Mental Health Notes on August 17th, 2007

I’d like to follow up on The Mental Benefits of A Good Massage - A Brain Massage, That Is, posted near the beginning of August.

The fabulous BamaGal informed me that:

When someone stops talking after a head injury—it is called aphasia–there are several forms of aphasia—but this is called expressive aphasia […] Having worked for several years with head injury patients—this is a common occurrence—also those who have a stroke suffer from varying degrees of aphasia—even you can suffer from it in it’s mildest form—I call it a brain fart—when something is on the tip of your tongue but you can’t think of what it is

She also provided me with the informational site for The National Aphasia Association.

Go check it out, and I’d still like to know about any experience(s) you’ve, or a family member or friend has had, with aphasia!
