Know When It’s Time To Call Your Doctor

In light of recent posts - and events throughout the b5 Science & Health Channel, I thought we’d start this week out with a refresher.
Over the past couple of months, I’ve written several Cymbalta withdrawal-related posts. Many of you have chimed in with your own horror stories, words of encouragement, and tips on how to make the transition smoother based on your own experiences.
I admit I was overwhelmed and quite frankly tickled pink to find that a few measly rants and raves of mine could bring together so many people who were - and some who still are - suffering from antidepressant withdrawal. It’s a tough row to hoe, but it’s one made easier with understanding and support.
Mental Health Notes aims to provide understanding and support. My posts are made up of my own experiences, opinions, education on the matter, and direction to scientific, medical, and other professional health-related resources.
However, I feel it’s important to point out that when you’re looking for professional medical advice, you should always contact a medical professional. In other words, a doctor. Feel free to rant and rave all you want at MHN, by all means! I do it all the time ;) But, remember to take care of yourself. Your doctor is the best person - the most qualified person! - to help you do that.
Below are a few suggestions about when it’s time to call your doctor:
- You’re considering abruptly discontinuing a prescribed medication.
- You want to stop taking a medicine, and want to know the safest way to do so.
- You’re considering beginning a new medication - over-the-counter, herbal, or a prescription medication that has yet to be prescribed to you.
- You’ve thought about or attempted committing suicide.
Remember, Mental Health Notes and I are always here to give you a place to grow, learn, share your experiences, and read about the experiences of others! I firmly believe in the benefits of being able to congregate and share with others, but I also want you all to take care of yourselves.

what happens when your doctor tells you to go cold turkey off of medication and promises you that you won’t withdrawl and then you do and you withdrawl. who do you call then?
