Brain Break: What To Talk About?

by Alicia Sparks, NAMI Affiliation Leader on March 30th, 2008

So, today is the second edition of Brain Break here at Mental Health Notes (last Sunday doesn’t really count, as I was wishing you all a Happy Easter, and that’s something I tend to do on holidays anyway - see?), and I’ve gone through several kinds of misery trying to think of something to blog about…

Should I tell them about my growing interest in Steve Howey, his creepily entrancing smile, and that my motive for tuning in to Lifetime at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. every weekday night for the past year is no longer to simply enjoy some good, wholesome family-oriented television viewing? No, no, they probably already think I’m desperate, what with the way I work Wentworth Miller into posts every chance I get. Oh, and Wenti, rest easy dear - I’m not cheating on you.

Hmm…OK…how about the debate I got into just last week about the Gummi Bears cartoon? About how I was so confident that the cartoon never existed, and that the person with whom I was debating was, for whatever reason, trying to play some colossally pointless joke on me, even making up the theme song as he sang it, only to find out just a few hours ago that Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears did indeed exist, and I actually spent a certain amount of time watching it in the late 80s? Was even able to sing along with the theme song after I looked it up? No, no…too weird.

Oh, I know! I should tell them about how the quickly approaching deadline of a certain writing contest has helped me knock a few chunks out of the writer’s block I’ve been struggling with forever! Well, my engaging tale of obsession, deceit, and murder hasn’t exactly left the drawing board yet, so maybe I should save that little celebratory jig for a later date…

How impressed I am with little Draco Malfoy?

How excited I am that Dave Matthews Band summer tour tickets went on sale yesterday?

Wow. I really used to work better under pressure. Either that, or I’m seriously boring these days.

Brain Break is supposed to offer a break for our brains. I’ve just put mine through the ringer! If nothing else, I suppose I’ve given you an interesting image to look at, which I found here.

Ah, well. Here’s hoping next week’s Brain Break will be more interesting - in addition to actually making sense. ;)
