Unwind With Poodwaddle.com’s Relaxation & Meditation Timer

by Alicia Sparks, Mental Health Notes on October 3rd, 2008

For some reason, I am really on a The Veronicas kick right now. Specifically (actually, only) their song “Untouched.” And I have no idea why.

What am I talking about, I have no idea why? I know exactly why. And no Harry Potter fan worth her weight in Galleons could resist this.

Harry Potter obsession aside, I just really like the song. It’s upbeat and energetic vibe is contagious. I don’t know how many times I’ve danced around my desk to it this week.

Fortunately, I also discovered Poodwaddle.com’s Relaxation & Meditation Timer this week, and it’s served as an excellent way to calm. down.

(Haha, Poodwaddle - what a name.)

You see, the Relaxation & Meditation Timer doesn’t just time you while you’re relaxing and meditating - it also gives you a list of 30 songs you can select to listen to while you relax and meditate (I recommend “Beyond the Hills,” but that’s just me), and the option to enter the URL of your favorite mp3.

Isn’t that illegal? Putting songs on the Internet? I can’t keep up.

Is this revolutionary? Is it going to forever change the way we relax and meditate? Will Poodwaddle.com’s servers crash under the weight of katrillions of visitors each day?

No, no, and no. There are numerous sites out there that offer the similar cool services (meet Exhibits A and B). And, I mean, really, all you need is a relaxing CD (or mp3 playlist) and some free time to achieve the same results.

But because it’s web-based and does the timing for you (hello Convenience!), it’s certainly worth checking out.

Try it out when you have some free time and/or are feeling particularly tense and stressed. Let me know what you think, or if you know of any other similar sites you think do the job better.
